The Highland Company of Eastern North Carolina was started in 1985 by John H. High, Jr, respectfully referred to by his friends and clients as "Johnny".  With an extensive background in residential construction and subdivision development,  Johnny continued to successfully grow his business with each passing year, with a proven commitment to homeowner satisfaction. 

Johnny High has been named Builder of the Year for 1999, 2000, 2003, and 2009, by the Rocky Mount Home Builder's Association, and is well respected by his peers and associates.  His homes have also been Parade of Homes winners numerous times over the years.

​When asked recently about his personal philosophy regarding his company's mission statement, and goals for his company, Johnny said:

"We strive to build a high quality product each and every time. Whether it's a custom home or a spec home, high quality products and superior craftsmanship are the hallmark of The Highland Company. In addition, our work crews are the most loyal and dedicated workers I've ever found in this business - most have been with me since the beginning, and are true professionals in every way."

Regarding his commitment to his customers, he says:

"Our first commitment is to our customers, and our "teamwork approach" ensures our team will be there to help them with each phase of the home building process, with proven techniques our buyers demand and appreciate! The Highland Company has built well over 300 high quality homes, and it is this constant demand for high quality homes that keeps us strong and successful."

Johnny High and his wife Gayle have been married for 18 years and have two children, Julia and John Hardy. He is a current member and Board member of the Rocky Mount Home Builders Association in Rocky Mount, N.C.
